1. Patience is essential for successful trading.
When you trade, you should understand that the market doesn't present opportunities every moment. Most of the time is just dead time. Patiently wait for the opportunities that are right for you.
2. Refine and follow a profitable trading strategy.
Stick to a trading system that generates positive returns: opening positions, closing positions, setting stop-losses and taking profits.

I'm just an ordinary retail trader—one of the smallest of the small. To me, trading is a way to defy the odds, change my fate, and move up the social ladder (from a wage earner with no assets to someone who owns assets). So besides trading, I also have to make a living, work to support myself, and even earn the money I need to trade. That's why I have to be patient when trading.
But retail traders have very few opportunities, so we have to endure and patiently wait for the trading opportunities that are right for us.
