XRP Ledger outpaces Ethereum in tokenized commodity growth, with $2.2 billion in net inflows year to date
On October 7, U.Today reported that joint data from Token Terminal and the RWA Foundation for October 2026 showed XRP Ledger (XRPL) surpassing Ethereum in the market capitalization growth of tokenized commodities. Year to date, XRPL had net inflows of $2.2 billion, while Ethereum ranked second with $1.6 billion. Avalanche came third with $334.5 million, followed by BNB Chain with $57.5 million. The report attributed the difference to their architectures: issuing assets on Ethereum requires writing complex smart contracts and paying unpredictable gas fees, whereas XRPL can tokenize real-world assets at the protocol level. Its built-in IOU mechanism brings costs to less than a cent, with settlement taking just 3–5 seconds. The main driver was the energy sector, with JMWH, a tokenized power generation contract launched by Latin American company Justoken, contributing the most liquidity.
