Binance customer holdings in September: Bitcoin rose by about $537 million, while Ethereum fell by about $499 million
On October 7, BeInCrypto reported that Binance’s proof-of-reserves data showed that users’ Bitcoin holdings on Binance increased by about $537 million in September 2026, while their Ethereum holdings fell by about $499 million over the same period. Bitcoin was the only major asset to see an increase in customer balances, rising 0.91% to about 688,573 BTC. Ethereum balances fell 4.61%, USDT holdings declined 0.87%, and BNB fell 0.77%. The report noted that Binance did not explain the reasons for these changes, nor did it indicate whether the same customers sold ETH to buy BTC. On the reserves side, Binance’s coverage of customer deposits exceeded 100% across all eight assets, but its buffers varied: it held 691,004 BTC against customer holdings of 688,573 BTC, a surplus of 0.35%, or about 2,431 BTC. Ethereum had virtually no surplus.
