Wu Blockchain learned that the UK Treasury has appointed Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Morgan Stanley, NatWest and RBC Capital Markets as joint lead managers for DIGIT, the UK’s first digitally native government bond. They will handle underwriting, investor communications and distribution. The pilot is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2027. DIGIT is a short-term UK government bond that will be the first digital asset listed on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market. It will be issued directly on the HSBC Orion DLT platform and settled on-chain within the UK’s Digital Securities Sandbox, independently of the existing government debt management programme.
