A market-wide plunge???$BTC
$ETH
Everyone is asking: “The crypto market” just went through a rapid, high-volume sell-off. What caused it??? What exactly is a “converging pattern”?
In fact, this was clearly flagged this morning: near the end of a converging pattern, a breakout is often accompanied by a sharp move!
The essence of a converging pattern is the sustained compression of volatility. In a triangle or symmetrical convergence structure, price movements gradually narrow as the space for bulls and bears to contend is increasingly squeezed. Prices repeatedly test the range until the deadlock is finally broken and a new equilibrium is sought.
This sharp drop was a downside breakout at the end of a converging pattern. After Bitcoin fell below the previous support area, its price quickly dropped to 83,500. Ether likewise broke through the 2,600 level, hitting a low of 2,587. This is consistent with the typical pattern of a breakout at the end of a convergence being accompanied by increased volume: declining volume during consolidation builds energy for the breakout, while rising volume during the breakout confirms the validity of its direction.
After the sharp morning drop, BTC found temporary support in the 83,500–84,100 range, while ETH stabilized around 2,587–2,610. Looking at the longer-term picture, both have given back a significant portion of their recent gains.
Looking at the charts again, trading volume has clearly contracted during the current rebound, making this a “technical recovery” after oversold conditions. In the short term, Bitcoin will most likely move sideways between 83,500 and 84,500, and Ether between 2,580 and 2,630, as bulls and bears once again seek equilibrium.
As for the trading strategy, the overall direction remains unchanged, and so does the rationale! Focus primarily on buying dips, with shorting rallies as a secondary approach.
Go long on Bitcoin on a pullback to 83,500–83,800, with a target of 84,500–84,800.
Go long on Ether on a pullback to 2,580–2,590, with a target of 2,640–2,650.
