This is an increase in holdings, not a vote of confidence. The market read the move as an institution adding to its position, overlooking the fact that the buyer was a rules-based growth ETF rebalancing its portfolio.

Capital Group’s growth ETF CGGR disclosed that it had increased its holdings of Strategy (MSTR) by 535,304 shares, worth about $89 million, bringing its total to 2.19 million shares, valued at approximately $366 million.
The money used to buy the shares came from index weights and the fund’s prospectus—not from anyone’s opinion of Strategy. That’s what regulators should be paying attention to: disclosures can tell you how much a fund holds, but they can’t control how passive funds distribute a company’s leverage proportionally across every investor. People who buy the fund think they’re getting diversification, but in reality, they’re taking on exposure to a single company.
Diversification is an illusion.
This assessment would no longer hold if future disclosures showed that the increase came from an active strategy, or if a comparable index removed MSTR.
