Crypto Morning Brief | A Zcash ETF filing is really in

Stayed up late scrolling through the news and found a big one: the Winklevoss brothers have officially filed with the SEC for a $ZEC spot ETF, planning to list it on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK. ZEC was mocked as a dinosaur coin in the last bull market, and now it’s charging straight into the regulated market. A privacy coin getting ETF treatment? I wouldn’t have believed it last year.

There’s movement on the institutional front, too: $SOL and JPMorgan have built a new system that lets institutions settle on-chain and receive funds instantly. On top of that, the CFTC chair explicitly said there would be a federal regulatory pathway for crypto. Regulation shifting from blocking the way to paving it—that’s the real game changer.

The macro picture is a bit of a mixed bag: the Fed’s first rate hike since 2023, oil prices surging amid tensions with Iran, and Brent crude’s expected average price for Q4 at $105. But BlackRock just said AI agents might use $BTC as a long-term store of value. When inflation hits, hard assets become a safe haven—the more I think about this narrative, the more it makes sense.

My take: ETFs are opening up more and more avenues, but the truly powerful trend is institutional infrastructure. Volatile in the short term, optimistic in the long term.
