The Bitcoin mining landscape is shifting again. An update published on October 5 by Hashrate Index, Luxor’s data platform, shows that estimated hashrate in the U.S. fell from 345 EH/s to around 335 EH/s, while Russia’s rebounded from 162 EH/s to 170 EH/s. Global hashrate remained largely flat. The U.S., Russia, and China still account for about 66% of the network’s hashrate combined, with concentration edging down by just 0.8%. The report also cautions that these are only estimates of geographic location; they do not reflect equipment ownership or control by mining pools. The extent to which $BTC mining is decentralized remains unclear.
