The market action at the start of October is pretty interesting. Let’s get straight to the data.

$BTC closed the week at 86,500, its highest level since late January, but its fourth attempt to break above the year’s opening price of 87,570 still failed. 82,500 is the short-term line in the sand. If it can hold firmly above 86,500, the next target is 98,000. Some institutions have already raised their 12-month price target to 113,000.

$ETH is stuck at 2,700, with momentum at zero. The most dangerous signal is the retail long/short ratio of 2.93, with three-quarters of accounts positioned long. Smart money is at just 1.65. If 2,628 gives way, 2,576 is the next stop.

$ZEC has fallen 21% from its peak of 1,698, while related ETFs saw net outflows of more than $93.6 million in a single week. 1,233 is the short-term dividing line; a meaningful rebound will require reclaiming 1,410. A whale has been accumulating against the trend at an average price of 1,140, buying 28.17 million. Is it buying the dip or catching a falling knife? The market will decide.
