RESOLV rose 14% to 0.02188: 4-hour trading volume surged, but OI did not increase in tandem

Bottom line: RESOLV spot rose about 14.14% over 24 hours. Trading volume on the most recently closed 1-hour and 4-hour candles increased significantly, but the open interest (OI) quantity in perpetual futures fell by about 12%. This looks more like a spot-driven rebound with leveraged positions changing hands or being unwound, so it is too early to treat it as confirmation of an established uptrend.

The following data was collected at 04:36 Beijing time on October 7, 2026. The scope is Binance RESOLVUSDT spot and USDⓈ-M RESOLVUSDT perpetual futures; only closed candlesticks are used.

I. Price and Trading Volume

The latest Binance spot price is approximately $0.02188, with a 24-hour high of 0.02200 and a low of 0.01857. The 24-hour trading volume is approximately 2.8763 million USDT.

The most recently closed 1-hour candlestick closed at 0.02120, with a trading volume of approximately 415,100 USDT—about 3.52 times the average volume of the previous 20 closed 1-hour candlesticks. The most recently closed 4-hour candlestick also closed at 0.02120, with a trading volume of approximately 1.5466 million USDT—about 4.87 times the average of the previous 20. The short-term surge in trading volume is clear.

However, the daily chart does not show an equally strong signal: the most recently closed daily candlestick closed at 0.01913, with a trading volume of approximately 1.1355 million USDT, just 0.90 times the average of the previous 20 daily candlesticks. Therefore, it is more accurate to describe the current move as a short-term rebound on elevated volume, rather than a high-volume breakout on the daily timeframe.

II. Have Futures Confirmed the Rise?

There is no clear confirmation. Across the latest approximately 30 hourly OI samples, the number of contracts held fell from about 185.6 million to about 163.2 million, a decline of approximately 12.05%. In notional terms, OI went from about 3.4851 million USDT to about 3.4601 million USDT—essentially flat, down slightly by approximately 0.72%. Prices rose while the number of contracts in OI declined, suggesting that this rally was not simply driven by a sustained buildup of new long positions.

The perpetual mark price is approximately 0.021864, while the index price is approximately 0.021870, so the two are closely aligned. The latest funding rate returned by the API is +0.000050, equivalent to approximately +0.005% per settlement period under the current settlement convention. This is slightly positive and does not yet indicate extreme long-side crowding. A positive funding rate also does not mean the rise will necessarily continue.

III. Don’t Treat Old Announcements as New Catalysts

In an April announcement, Binance added RESOLV to its Watch Tag and warned that such assets may experience higher volatility and face delisting risks. Another announcement discontinued support for RESOLV deposits and withdrawals on the BNB Smart Chain network, while other supported networks remained available. These are previously published historical details, not the latest announcements behind this rally. I found no reliable official news that would sufficiently attribute this rally to new project developments, so this article discusses only verified market data.

IV. What to Watch Next

For the rebound to develop into a stronger structure, first watch whether a 1-hour or 4-hour candlestick can close above 0.02200, and whether trading volume avoids quickly falling back to its recent average. Then watch whether OI increases in a healthy manner as the price rises. A breakout will be more credible only if price, volume, and OI move in sync.

On the downside, watch the area around 0.02100 first, followed by 0.02065 if that level is lost. If a closed candlestick also breaks below the 24-hour low of 0.01857, the short-term rebound structure will weaken significantly. With OI not yet increasing in tandem and the asset carrying a Watch Tag, the main risk of chasing the rally is shrinking liquidity and a pullback after a spike—not missing a trend that has already been confirmed.
