Bitcoin isn’t falling less in this phase of the cycle. It’s fluctuating less. That’s the conclusion of Binance Research’s weekly analysis, published on October 5.
The distinction matters more today than on any other day. Exactly one year ago, on October 6, 2025 , the asset hit its all-time high. Twelve months later, the idea that “this time was milder” doesn’t hold up to the numbers.
Bitcoin reached $57,800 on July 1, 2026, 54.2% below its peak of $126,200. The three previous bear markets were worse: 86.9%, 84.1%, and 77.6%.
But volatility fell too. The annualized measure went from 99% in the 2012–2015 cycle to 47% now. In other words, the same percentage decline represents a bigger shock today than it did before.
