Tonight, ETH’s test isn’t how much a block can hold, but whether nodes can handle the load reliably.

Glamsterdam is scheduled to activate on the Sepolia testnet at 21:53:36 Beijing time on October 6. The latest version of Prysm has added a default setting of 200 million gas. This figure measures the amount of computational work each block can accommodate—not 200 million transactions.

I’ll be watching three things: whether blocks are produced consistently, whether different clients work together properly, and whether the burden on nodes increases noticeably. Scaling requires more capacity, but it also needs to keep pace with the people maintaining the network. Fees are still affected by demand, so we can’t assume in advance that they will definitely fall.

Tonight, I’d rather wait for the test results than focus on a single impressive capacity figure. The date for the mainnet upgrade has not yet been determined.

When evaluating a scaling upgrade, do you care more about the capacity limit or the track record of stable operation?
