Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Hong Kong government has reiterated it will submit amendments to the crypto asset licensing bill by the end of 2026, establishing a licensing regime covering digital asset trading, custody, advisory and management services. Christopher Hui, Hong Kong’s Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, said the amendments will address developments in the fintech sector.

In January this year, Christopher Hui disclosed that regulators planned to submit a crypto asset regulatory proposal by the end of 2026. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has begun processing stablecoin issuer license applications and issued the first stablecoin issuer licenses to Anchorpoint Financial and the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in April.
