Noon, lunch break.

I open a quick Futures position between bites of my sandwich. Bad timing—the market reverses, my Stop-Loss gets hit. -$200.

Nothing dramatic. My capital could easily absorb it.

But my ego couldn’t take it.

A stupid rage took over my brain: “No way am I ending my break in the red. I’m getting my $200 back right now and closing the app.”

That’s when the carnage began:

  • I open a trade in the opposite direction with 3x the size. Lose again.

  • With sweaty hands and my heart racing at 120 bpm, I crank the leverage up to 20x to go faster.

  • I don't even look at support levels or the overall trend anymore. I just click the green and red buttons like I'm in front of a slot machine.

When I put my phone down an hour later to get back to work:

-$2,000 net in the account. Ten times the initial loss.

That day, I understood the market’s most brutal rule:

“Revenge trading” is financial suicide.

When you lose, the market couldn’t care less about your ego or your portfolio. The moment you feel anger, frustration, or an urgent need to “win back your loss,” you’re no longer a trader: you’re an easy target.

My golden rule today, written on a Post-it in front of my desk:

Two Stop-Losses hit in a row = I turn off the screen and stay away from the app for 24 hours.

Be honest: what’s the biggest amount you’ve blown in 1 hour just because you refused to accept a small loss?
