An institution’s willingness to buy $169 million worth of BTC doesn’t mean you should convert all your cash into a position.

Strive disclosed on October 5 that it had added 2,000 BTC between September 28 and October 2, at an average purchase price of about $84,422, bringing its total holdings to 29,462 BTC. These purchases had already been completed; this wasn’t buying that had just entered the market today.

After years of trading, I’ve come to pay more attention to how purchases are funded: where the money comes from, how much volatility it can withstand, and when it will be needed. Institutions have their own financing channels. Ordinary people, however, may be using next year’s mortgage payments and living expenses to imitate an institution’s position.

This accumulation shows that some investors are willing to keep allocating to BTC, but it doesn’t prove that prices won’t fall in the short term. Understanding an institution’s choices is more important than copying its actions.

If BTC falls another 20%, will your position still let you sleep at night?
