Brent crude was quoted at two prices in the same hour: $97.45 and $101.89.

The same asset, with a difference of more than $4.

The two figures cover different windows—one intraday, the other 24-hour—and refer to different contracts, so they can’t be compared directly. The direction still depends on the news: Saudi Aramco cut its official selling price for benchmark crude to Asia to a six-year low, Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf producers are competing for Asian market share, and shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are still increasing. Supply is competing fiercely, which is what’s pushing prices down.

At this level, it looks more like an oversold market. Once the closing settlement price is available, if Brent closes below $97 and competition among suppliers continues to intensify, the view that most of the decline is over will no longer hold.
