$SHELL | Why the Same Exchange Can Show Two Different Numbers for “the Same Thing”
Here’s a useful habit for anyone just learning to read charts: two numbers that seem to measure the same thing can still come from slightly different calculations.
Binance’s order flow analysis panel reports SHELL’s 24-hour large-order net flow at about +434,154.80 SHELL. Binance’s separate 5-day large-order chart shows the most recent 24-hour bar at +660,175.80. Both are labeled “large orders, 24 hours,” and both come from the same exchange, but they don’t match exactly.
That doesn’t necessarily mean either number is wrong. The two tools may measure their 24-hour periods slightly differently, or classify order sizes differently. The lesson: always check which specific tool a number comes from before comparing it with another number.
