As of 2026-10-06 08:15 JST. U.S. stocks closed higher Monday, with the Nasdaq hitting another record. Tokyo spot trading opens only at 9:00, so for the Asian session, watch overnight futures—not the opening price.

U.S. close (AP): Dow 51267.90 +0.18%, S&P 7773.95 +0.66%, Nasdaq 27477.31 +1.05%, a record; Russell 2847.14 +0.5%. Tech-heavyweights outweighed yields. The 10-year Treasury yield was around 5.31% (Reuters: +3.4bp; Sharecast: 5.312%, 30-year: 5.665%), still below last Thursday’s high of 5.34%. The odds of a rate hike in October were about 22% on CNBC/FedWatch, and about 87% for December; a separate premarket figure showed 77.9% for no change—don’t combine them into one number. FOMC minutes are due Wednesday at 14:00 ET.

Asia: The Nikkei closed Monday at 69946.86, +2.40%, after briefly rising above 70,000 before falling back. Osaka Exchange December night-session futures stood at 70180, up 90 from the settlement value (Nikkei, 6:13). Hong Kong stocks closed Monday at 24040.34, +0.28%; today’s market opens at 10:30. A-shares are closed for the Golden Week holiday until 10/8. South Korean markets were closed Monday; whether they reopen Tuesday has not been verified in this post. USD/JPY: 157.94 on Yahoo. Brent was around 100.27 in overnight trading, on extremely thin volume.

Crypto: CoinGecko BTC 86017 (the 24-hour direction shown on the page is inconsistent; range 85010–86949); Yahoo 85987, -0.6%. ETH around 2717. ETF figures, already settled, still only run through 10/2: net inflows of 189.9 million, including 158.2 million for IBIT; cumulative total around 57.86 billion. 10/5 inflows have not yet been reported.

The 10-year yield back at 5.3%, oil easing to around 100, and a Nasdaq record are all happening at once. At the Tokyo open, will you follow overnight futures, or wait for Wednesday’s minutes?
