According to CNBC, Intel Corp. and Valero Energy Corp. have more than doubled since they were first written up in January on The Best Stocks in the Market list, while CRH Plc and First Solar, Inc. fell off the list after failing to hold their setups. Intel is up 163% since the first write-up and 214% year to date, with the stock recently trading near $119 after touching an intraday high of $126 on Friday; Valero is up 113% since Jan. 8 and 142% year to date, with shares back near $406 after a late-September pullback. CRH is down 33% since Jan. 12 and 31% year to date, while First Solar is down 27% since Jan. 22 and 32% year to date. The article also said Intel will report third-quarter results on Oct. 22, Valero authorized a new $5 billion buyback in July, CRH agreed in June to buy Arcosa for $150 per share in cash, and First Solar’s backlog has fallen to 45.1 GW worth $13.6 billion.
