Ethereum staking exit queue hits a new high for 2026!
Ethereum staking data has shifted significantly:
The exit queue briefly reached around 851,000 ETH, its highest level so far in 2026.
As of October 5, around 786,000 ETH are still waiting to exit, worth over $2 billion, with an estimated wait of nearly 14 days.
But this doesn’t necessarily mean ETH holders are turning bearish en masse.
The main reason is that MetaMask proactively withdrew some validators following a recent security incident, causing the exit queue to surge from 166,000 to 851,000 ETH in just three days.
What’s more worth watching:
👉 Around 1.5 million ETH are still waiting to enter staking
👉 The entry queue has fallen from 2 million ETH in early September
👉 Lido expects some of the exiting ETH to re-enter staking later
So this looks more like an adjustment to validator infrastructure than a broad retreat from staking.
