Ethereum’s staking exit queue has suddenly surged to a 2026 high over the past two days, reaching about 851,000 ETH at one point on October 2. There are still about 786,000 ETH waiting to exit, with a wait time of nearly 14 days.
But this time, we shouldn’t simply interpret it as “more than 800,000 ETH about to be dumped,” because a considerable portion of the exits are precautionary validator exits by MetaMask following a security incident. There’s currently no evidence that these $ETH will be sold directly on the market.
So what I’m more interested in watching now is whether the ETH staking exit queue can fall quickly once this wave of exits is over.
If the queue doesn’t come down for a while, that’s when it’s more cause for concern.
