Ethereum Validator Exit Queue Surges 392% to 850K ETH

Ethereum's staking exit queue surged approximately 392% at the start of October, reaching nearly 850,736 ETH — the longest queue seen so far in 2026.

According to on-chain data from beaconcha.in, the queue peaked on Oct 2 with an estimated withdrawal delay of 14.77 days. Analysis shows ∼523,000 ETH of the total originates from MetaMask Staking's precautionary validator exits following a reported infrastructure compromise.

The Ethereum protocol throttles exits to protect network security, so this does not represent an instant supply shock. However, it creates potential short-term liquidity. If a significant portion is sold, ETH could face pressure. If it is re-staked elsewhere, the impact will be muted.

Key levels to monitor: validator exit queue length, LST depegs, and net staking flows.
