According to CNBC, Russia's Defense Ministry said it will intensify military attacks on Kyiv and other major Ukrainian cities after a Russian drone strike damaged the Northern Bridge in Ukraine's capital over the weekend. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people were injured and traffic on the bridge was suspended after the attack, while the ministry said the bridge supports troop transfers and military cargo logistics. The ministry also said the strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions were retaliation for actions by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy said Ukraine would step up attacks on Russian oil refineries in response to the airstrikes and that Russian civilians would not be targeted. Separately, Zelenskyy said the Trump administration has proposed a trilateral meeting at the technical level by the end of October and that Ukraine is open to the United Arab Emirates or another country proposed by the U.S. to host the talks.
