GTC suddenly woke up amid the relaunch of Gitcoin.

On October 1, the team announced that its reboot has been given a new name—Techne. The first pilot, Beacon, is already out on the App Store and has conducted its first offline test. Meanwhile, Gitcoin itself is not going anywhere: the DAO and GTC continue to operate separately from the new brand.

The market reacted very violently. $GTC rose from the $0.09 area to over $0.23, and on October 4 the intraday move exceeded 50%.

But I wouldn’t write that Techne “lifted” the token. We’re seeing timing coincidence, not proven causality.

Especially since the roadmap also includes a long stretch ahead: the SDK has been moved to 2027, and the Techne launch is currently targeting mid-December.

And this is where, for me, the real test of $GTC begins.

The pump shows that the market is paying attention to Gitcoin again. The product will show whether there’s anything more to this attention.

Overall, I think after a move like this, the most interesting question isn’t “how much more will $GTC grow,” but “what the team can actually build.”
