The Drift hacker incident has finally entered the actual compensation stage. However, at present, the verified losses amount to approximately $295.4 million, while the Recovery Pool is only about $3.11 million. Based on the launch-time price, each $1 of loss currently corresponds to only about $0.0104 in recoveries.
Victims can now claim DFX. For each $1 of verified loss, they receive 1 DFX, which they can choose to directly exchange for USDT, sell on the secondary market, or continue holding and wait for additional funds to enter the Recovery Pool.
So what’s truly worth watching now is not whether people can “get their money back,” but how large the subsequent Recovery Pool can grow, and when the funding and protocol revenue that Tether has pledged will actually enter the pool—because those factors determine how much can ultimately be recovered.
