$BTC trading volume has spoken, but the price is still waiting for confirmation
First, take a look at the order book: as of 12:07 Beijing time on October 5, Binance’s spot price for $BTC is 86,130.94 USDT, while OKX is 86,137.60. The 1-hour trading volume is about 1.51 times the median of the past ~20 candles. OI (open interest) for the past hour is +0.22%, and the funding rate is +0.0067%.
Spreading it across timeframes: 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours are -0.20%, -0.51%, and -0.51% respectively. The two structural boundaries are 84,924.51 on the downside and 86,999.11 on the upside.
My understanding is: price hasn’t moved far for now, but volume has expanded— the market is rotating positions, and the direction still needs confirmation at key levels. Another interpretation is that after both long and short sides adjust their positions, one side temporarily gains the upper hand on the short term; the publicly available OI alone can’t tell which side is more proactive. If the price pulls back into the middle of the range again, the directional read from earlier would no longer hold. First, see whether 86,999.11 can hold; then watch whether 84,924.51 is broken.
Just an observation of public market data and does not constitute investment advice.
