Israel's Prime Minister's Office said on social media on the evening of October 4 local time that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had instructed National Security Council chief Shmuel Ben Ezra to appoint a special reviewer for a comprehensive and thorough examination of all security procedures for foreign civilian flights to Israel. According to Sina Finance, the move followed a security incident on September 30 involving Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Tel Aviv, Israel, in which UAE sources said the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain in the cockpit, causing the aircraft to descend suddenly before crew members and passengers restrained the attacker. The aircraft was later diverted and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
