🚨 THE SEC JUST OPENED A NEW DOOR FOR INSTITUTIONAL CRYPTO. 👀
The U.S. SEC has proposed new rules for how investment advisers and regulated funds can hold crypto.
And one part really caught my attention:
Under certain conditions, advisers could self-custody crypto when a qualified custodian is not available.
The proposal would also allow state-chartered trust companies to provide crypto custody services.
Why does this matter?
Because custody has been one of the biggest problems for institutions trying to enter crypto.
If the rules become clearer, more investment firms may have an easier path to hold digital assets.
But don’t get too excited yet.
⚠️ This is a proposal, not a final rule.
There will be a public comment period, and the rules can still change.
Still, the direction is interesting:
Clearer rules → easier custody → fewer barriers → potentially more institutional participation.
And that could matter for the whole crypto market.
The bigger question is:
