The vault attack on Base caused damage of about $6 million, equivalent to 1.783 wstETH, according to analysis by Spot On Chain recorded on Oct 4.

The attacker added a new contract to the list of allowed vault access, then borrowed aBaswstETH from the vault and transferred these tokens to their own contract. The wallet address was identified as 0x0B5126…B034.

According to Spot On Chain’s assessment, the system risk remains limited. However, if the attacker sells the wstETH amount, this transaction could create short-term pressure on maintaining the peg price of liquid staking tokens (LST).
