GM☕️ Lately I’ve been seeing memes and increasingly feel that by the time the heat hasn’t even turned into a consensus, everyone has already moved on to the next thing.
Issuing tokens is easy, and so is copying the narrative. For the same hot topic, the original version, parody copies, and cross-chain variants all rush to capture attention; but for people who are willing to keep buying and holding, it’s not so easy to keep increasing. A meme goes viral doesn’t mean there are people ready to keep buying every coin that’s issued around that meme.
What feels more troublesome to me is that everyone expects this wave of hype won’t last long, and that the realization will come even earlier. If it pumps, you’re afraid you’ll sell too early; if it dips, you’re afraid there won’t be someone to take the baton next. In the end, before the narrative even gets going, people are already fighting with each other over exit liquidity 🫠
So when I look at memes now, it’s not enough to just judge whether the story can catch on—it also matters who will keep buying after this price. There’s a lot of trading volume, and it could also mean the same group of people are repeatedly switching hands.
For me, what’s getting harder is this: research takes time, but the buy-side may not wait for you to finish your research. Chasing every hot topic consumes both attention and judgment.
