On National Day, I’m resting, and I found that this world is truly interesting.
People who work on AI have already started to collectively get a bit “crazy.”
In the past, AI folks talked about compute power, models, parameters, and scaling laws. Now they’re starting to talk about consciousness, souls, civilization, religion—some even genuinely go seek out religious people to exchange ideas.
What’s even more interesting is that many of the strangest stories in the AI circles ultimately involve the AI security folks from the major AI companies. These people were originally responsible for researching AI safety, alignment, and risks.
Then recently, someone suddenly wanted to return to the countryside to farm, and others quickly resigned and publicly questioned the company’s approach to AI safety issues~
The AI hasn’t gone out of control yet, but the AI safety officers first did.
If it were just hype, they wouldn’t need to resign. The company is already very close to going public; if they had just held on a bit longer, they could have gained better personal returns after the IPO.
An even more absurd fact: the person who exposed the AI safety issues has an annual salary close to a billion USD.
The world is really crazy...
