Crypto: Hoskinson and a new era of exponential growth

Charles Hoskinson believes crypto has just entered a phase of exponential growth. During an appearance at the United Nations, the founder of Cardano compared blockchain to the Internet and artificial intelligence—two technologies whose adoption accelerated after slower beginnings. His most concrete example: tokenized stocks, which rose from roughly $600 million to $3 billion.

Charles Hoskinson compares the evolution of crypto to that of the Internet and AI.

Tokenized stocks increased from roughly $600 million to $3 billion.

For him, blockchain is entering a phase where its adoption could accelerate strongly.

Hoskinson sees crypto scaling up

Charles Hoskinson starts from a fairly simple idea. Exponential technologies rarely progress in a steady, regular way. For several years, changes may seem limited. Then, improvements to infrastructure, lower costs, and the arrival of new users speed everything up.

The Internet is his main point of comparison. International communications used to depend heavily on distance. The network progressively reduced that limitation, enabling nearly instant exchanges at a global scale.

Hoskinson now places blockchain on a comparable path. He also links this evolution to artificial intelligence, a field he already wants to integrate more into the Cardano ecosystem.

AI models become capable of handling more tasks with fewer computing resources. Blockchain, for its part, progressively gains uses beyond the simple exchange of cryptocurrencies. Traditional finance is starting to provide several examples.
