The “fuel” behind this surge in ZEC appears to have run out: Grayscale’s ZCSH recorded its first weekly net outflow of about $93.6 million, suggesting that incremental institutional capital is withdrawing, and the risk of short-term price-chips loosening is rising noticeably.

Since ZCSH launched on August 25, the initial cumulative net inflow had reached about $271 million, serving as the core capital engine behind this round of privacy-coin repricing. But in the past week, it has flipped from net inflow to net outflow—and not by a small amount. This isn’t a normal pullback; it’s a signal that the capital structure is starting to change.

What to watch now

- Whether ZCSH continues to see outflows next week: if net outflows persist consecutively, it indicates institutions are cashing out—not just one-week noise.
- Whether ZEC’s trading volume continues to contract: recent volume has already fallen from its peak. When price strength is present but volume is weak, it means there isn’t enough chase capital.
- Whether the 1,270–1,330 range can see volume for support: only if this zone can absorb selling with rising volume and halt the decline does it become a signal that the bulls are reorganizing their push again.
- Changes in ETF size: ZCSH’s assets previously hovered near $1 billion, but a substantial portion came from ZEC’s price rise and revaluation of existing holdings, not entirely from newly added cash.

My view

This ZEC rally was powered by a triple resonance: “an ETF-compliant channel + supply tightening + short-squeeze liquidation.” But now the first pillar—incremental capital—has started to loosen.

If ZCSH returns to net inflows next week, then this outflow was merely profit-taking rotation, and there will be further opportunities afterward. If outflows continue, then be careful: this market could shift from “institution-driven” to “leverage-driven games,” and volatility will increase significantly.

In the short term, don’t rush to chase. Wait for capital flows to turn back positive—then act more safely.
