$SHELL | Bollinger Band width jumps sharply between short and long timeframes

Bollinger Band width, calculated by the lower band, does not increase smoothly with the length of the time window here—it jumps in two distinct steps.

The 1-hour timeframe is at 6.81% and the 4-hour timeframe at 7.10%, almost in the same step. Then there is a strong jump: the daily timeframe reaches 56.32%, and the weekly timeframe 84.16%. The shorter timeframes cluster close together, while the longer ones are in a completely different region. This two-step structure says a lot about the volatility pattern of the recent period, more than any single bandwidth figure.
