🎩 The hacker changed their mind and returned everything.
A rare case in crypto: the thief not only didn’t flee to the Maldives, but also brought the loot back himself. On October 2, an unknown person returned the NEAR Intents stolen for $3.8 million. Project CEO Alex Shevchenko reported this.
How it happened: Shevchenko posted three addresses (Bitcoin, BNB/Ethereum, and Solana) and gave 48 hours to return the funds. The hacker managed it in less than a day. Apparently, they realized that public fame in such a matter is of little use.
The coins were sent to the Bitcoin and BNB/Ethereum addresses. The rest—Shevchenko didn’t spell out, so details about Solana will have to wait.
Result: the team closed the investigation and asked that, in the future, people come through bug bounties instead of breaking services. 🤝
