$BTC Gave Us a Textbook Rejection and the Market Felt It
Bitcoin finally punched above $86,000 and tagged a two-week peak of $86,500… and that's exactly where the sellers were waiting.
What happened next was brutal: after spiking to that $86,500 high, BTC got violently rejected and gave back over $3,000, sliding straight back to $83,000 before steadying near $84,000 still more than 2% down on the day CryptoNews.
The altcoin bleed was even heavier. $SOL , $ADA , $AVAX, $SUI and $HBAR all dropped 5%+ on the daily, $XRP slid below $2.10, and the total crypto market cap shed roughly $70 billion in a single day, landing near $2.73 trillion CryptoNews. Meanwhile Bitcoin dominance pushed up to around 61% classic risk-off behavior. When the tide goes out, capital runs home to BTC.
Why $86.5K is now the level that matters: that price has become the wall. Bulls need a decisive reclaim and close above $86,500 to re-open the road toward $90K. Until then, $83K is the line in the sand and below it, the market's eye drifts back toward the $75K zone that buyers defended just last week CryptoNews.
The real tension? This rejection is happening right as we enter "Uptober" a month where Bitcoin has historically closed green in 10 of the past 15 years Investing.com. Overhead resistance on one side, seasonal tailwind on the other. Something has to give.
