Blast shuts down, everyone is watching the escrow and the coin price, but what gets ignored is how users get their money back after the shutdown.

L2 has appeared in shutdown scenarios before. The withdrawal window, waiting period, and deadline—all these rules are published by the project itself, with no external process to backstop them.

Blast requires users to withdraw their assets back to the Ethereum mainnet, including placing them in the balance inside its web application. The withdrawal waiting period is shortened to 24 hours, but the first step in closing is to retrieve the assets it has placed in Lido—expected to take about a week—during which withdrawals are paused.

Before October 26, 2026, withdrawals can be made through Blast’s standard interface; after that date, you have to deal directly with the Blast cross-chain bridge contract on Ethereum mainnet.

If withdrawals go smoothly all the way and nobody brings it up, then this observation would be unnecessary.
