NEAR Intents: The $3.8 million that was stolen was fully recovered.

Timeline: It was stolen on Thursday (10/1). On Friday, the team gave the attacker a 48-hour deadline to negotiate through encrypted channels. That same day, the publicly disclosed Bitcoin recovery address received about 34.59 BTC, roughly equal to the stolen amount (The Defiant, Cryptopolitan).

According to general manager Alex Shevchenko: “We stop the investigation. In the future, please go through the bug bounty program—don’t disrupt the service.”

Whether a bounty was paid, and how much, was not disclosed.

This kind of outcome is not common.

There are only a few comparable cases: Euler Finance was stolen of $197 million and recovered more than $177 million; GMX paid a 10% white-hat bounty and got back $37.5 million.

For comparison: last week, Bitget was hacked for $388 million, and so far the frozen amount is less than $1 million.

$NEAR On the day of the incident, the low was 4.74; now it’s around 4.63. The money is back, but the price isn’t—suggesting that the drop over the past few days wasn’t mainly due to these $3.8 million.
