In the quantity field in the order box, should you enter the budget or the number of coins?

Taking BTC/USDT as an example: BTC is the asset unit being bought or sold, while USDT is used for quoting. Entering “Quantity” versus “Amount” can represent two different types of order instructions.

One is how much BTC you want to buy or sell; the other is how much USDT you intend to spend or receive. The interface may look like it only has one input box, but the unit changes the meaning of the entire order. Which input method is supported depends on the current order type and the confirmation page.

Before confirming, read aloud the unit to the right of the input box, the expected filled quantity, and the expected amount together. Especially after switching the trading pair or order type, don’t reuse the numbers from the previous order.

If in your mind you only have a budget, first verify whether the final amount matches the budget. Don’t submit the budget number directly as an asset quantity. Checking the unit is simpler than explaining later why you entered extra after placing the order.
