Historical pattern: At the end of a bear market and start of a bull market, altcoins rally first, then fall back. BTC rises on its own for a while, and the real altcoin season comes later. Hold your spot assets and don't rush.
ETH rose from 1 to 15, while BTC climbed from around 430 to nearly 1,000.
While BTC was still bottoming around 3,500–4,000 in the first quarter, altcoins moved first: BNB rose from 6 to 17, and LTC from 30 to 60. In June, BNB reached nearly 40, LTC around 146, and LINK around 4.5, topping out almost simultaneously with BTC at 13,800.
During DeFi Summer, BTC traded sideways between 9,000 and 12,000 as YFI, LINK, and SUSHI took turns surging. Altcoins didn't take off again until early 2021.
SOL rose from 10 to 27, and $APT from 3.5 to 20. In June, the SEC sued Binance and Coinbase, naming SOL, $ADA , and $POL as securities. BTC dominance rose from around 42% at the start of the year to around 50%, and SOL didn't really take off until after October.
