CHAINLINK LOOKS TO SWIFT INFRASTRUCTURE.
🤝 Chainlink is advancing its integration with traditional financial infrastructure after announcing it will enable financial institutions to connect their systems and signing mechanisms with the new SWIFT blockchain ledger.
The connection will use the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE), which will coordinate flows between the entities’ systems and the SWIFT ledger, while banks retain control of the keys used to authorize transactions.
The potential scope is significant:
The SWIFT network covers more than 11,500 financial institutions and corporations across more than 200 markets.
- This doesn’t mean all of them will adopt Chainlink, but it expands access to their infrastructure within the banking ecosystem.
The initial goal is to enable 24/7 cross-border payments via tokenized deposits, keeping these assets in the banks’ own records.
In addition, Chainlink launched CCIP 2.0, with new verification options, compliance controls, and transfer configurations. The company states that CCIP already secures more than $84 billion in cross-chain assets.
LINK was trading around $13.59 at the time of the news, with an approximate 10% increase over 24 hours.
