šŸ•°ļø The search rankings are all ā€œold coinsā€ — this risk-on wave is actually a ā€œnostalgia rotationā€

I checked Binance’s current ā€œhighest search volumeā€ leaderboard and found something more worth thinking about than ā€œwhich coin is pumpingā€: what retail traders are going crazy searching for are all old coins.

SAND (2020), GALA (2020), AAVE (2020), YGG (2021), ADA (2017), ETC (2016), MTL (2017), AR (2018)… even the ā€œnewestā€ one tops out at YGG from 2021. From 2022 to 2026—four full years—there’s not a single new coin on the search list (see the red gap in the chart).

So what does this mean? This wave of retail chasing isn’t ā€œthe next new leader,ā€ but rather the previous cycle’s nostalgia points: the metaverse, old L1s, old DeFi—everyone is buying the names they recognized in 2021.

Why you should be cautious: when capital isn’t betting on ā€œthe next narrative,ā€ but instead going back to pick up ā€œwhat already ran last round and is now cheap,ā€ it usually indicates:
Ā· Not enough momentum for the new narrative (the real breakout leader hasn’t appeared yet, or it’s already too expensive)
Ā· It’s driven by sentiment/liquidity—more of a late-cycle characteristic, like a relay at the tail end of rotation

This isn’t telling you not to participate—just a reminder: nostalgia rotation is ā€œmemoryā€ that’s rising, not fundamentals. It comes fast and leaves even faster. If you chase this kind of market, discipline and stop-loss matter more than anything.

In one sentence: when the whole market is buying your 2021 memories, ask yourself— is this value, or just emotion looking for an exit?
