Thousands gathered in Ouagadougou on September 30 to mark four years since Captain Ibrahim Traoré came to power in the September 2022 military takeover. The main celebration, known as the “Night of the Popular Progressive Revolution,” was held at the Place de la Révolution.
The event featured speeches, cultural performances and tributes to Burkina Faso’s armed forces, with celebrations also taking place in regional capitals and at Burkinabè diplomatic missions abroad.
The government presented the anniversary as an opportunity to highlight what it describes as achievements in security, defence, healthcare, the economy and national sovereignty. Supporters gathered under the slogan “The People Watch Over Their Revolution.”
