Survive an execution after 30 years on death row
Christa Pike, 50, survived an attempted execution by lethal injection in Tennessee, United States. She received two doses of pentobarbital, but remained alive and was taken to a hospital.
Pike was convicted of the murder of Colleen Slemmer, a 19-year-old woman, in 1995. She would have been the first woman executed in Tennessee in about 200 years.
After the failed procedure, the governor postponed the next execution scheduled for this year.
