$AAVE is drawing attention today.
But maybe the surge is the least interesting part of the story.
While the token moves up about 11% over the last 24 hours, Aave is accelerating a transformation that deserves more attention: the DeFi credit protocol is starting to directly connect traditional financial assets to the on-chain market.
The big news is Aave V4.
In September, V4 surpassed $1 billion in deposits and reached approximately $310 million in active loans. The architecture was also expanded to new networks, including Arc and Base.
But it’s on Base that one of the most interesting parts appears.
The new Equities Hub allows using as collateral tokenized versions of seven major U.S. stocks:
Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA and Tesla.
The mechanism is simple to understand, but huge in meaning:
TOKENIZED STOCK → COLLATERAL → BORROWING IN USDC
In other words, an asset that represents exposure to the traditional market can be used as collateral within an on-chain credit framework. The stocks are not the lent asset; in this setup, USDC is the asset available for borrowing.
And the story doesn’t stop at RWAs.
Aave has also launched its Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling tools and AI agents to interact with the protocol.
Meanwhile, a proposal published on September 30 seeks to integrate OUSD, a stablecoin backed by cash and short-term Treasuries, into Aave V3 and V4. Initially, the proposal provides for deposits and borrowing, without enabling OUSD as collateral.
DeFi, credit, tokenized stocks, stablecoins, RWA, multichain and AI.
Maybe that’s why looking only at the daily variation of $AAVE misses the most interesting part of the story.
The question now isn’t only what’s happening to the token.
Here:
how far can a credit infrastructure go once Wall Street starts entering as collateral and AI starts interacting with the protocol?
That’s what we’re seeing.
