BTC is up—does $38.4 billion in trading volume mean new money is flowing in? I won’t make that judgment.

As of 18:39 on October 2, the Binance price page shows $BTC at approximately $86,367, up 3.18% over the past 24 hours, with trading volume of about $38.4 billion.

It’s definitely lively, but “how much was traded” and “how much new money came in” are two different things. The same pot of funds can be bought and sold repeatedly, which will accumulate the trading value; this number by itself doesn’t tell us how much net inflow there was.

My view is: based on only this snapshot, we can say the price strengthened over the past day and trading activity was active—but we still can’t conclude that “big money is continuously snatching shares.”

Next, I’ll look at two conditions: whether trading remains active as prices rise; and whether, when volume expands, the price can keep pushing higher. If volume is large yet the price can’t move up, it’s worth paying attention to a disagreement between buyers and sellers.

The data on this page doesn’t provide the above sequence of changes, so we shouldn’t write the conclusion in full yet.

For this BTC rally, do you focus more on the size of the price increase, or on whether volume and price move in tandem?
