BlockBeats message: On October 2, regarding SlowMist's report that the Safe module used in the Aave v3 loop strategy was exploited, resulting in losses of about 114.09 ETH (approximately $310,000), Aave founder Stani Kulechov said that this incident was not an attack on the Aave v3 contracts. Stani Kulechov said that the module in question is a third-party external adapter built on top of Aave v3, and that the incident had no impact on Aave v3 itself. In a previous report, Blockbeats said that the Aave v3 Loop Safe module suffered an attack. The attacker exploited a access control vulnerability in FlashLoopAdapter’s open()/close(), by forging Safe authentication and executing arbitrary modules, stealing about 114.09 ETH from two Safe multisig addresses and repaying roughly 1,300 WETH in debt to unlock the collateral.
