30.09.2026 Solana Foundation reported the launch of Open USD (OUSD) on its network. This is news about payment infrastructure, not a ready-made SOL growth schedule. Source: https://solana.com/news/open-usd-is-live-on-solana

What is known

OUSD issues the Bridge. According to a statement from the Solana Foundation, companies can issue and redeem it 1:1 for dollars without a fee for this operation. The reserves are held with BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY, and reserve attestations must be published monthly. The token is issued natively on Solana under the Token-2022 standard: it is not a wrapped asset that requires a separate bridge. The foundation’s website also provides the issuance address; before interacting, you should verify it specifically using the primary source rather than a similar ticker.

Why it matters

A native stablecoin can simplify calculations and management of cash balances for companies that are already operating on this network. Every actual transaction requires network throughput and fees. But large names in the announcement, integration plans, and stated liquidity alone do not show how many new payments will come in and what demand $SOL that will create. The transaction-fee share may be small; to assess it, you need real volumes, active addresses, and the OUSD supply dynamics.

What to watch

We check actual issuance and redemptions, availability of attestations, integration into payments, and whether usage is growing without one-time incentives. A bullish scenario for the network: OUSD becomes a working tool for payments and adds durable transactions. The alternative: the issued amount concentrates among a few participants, while day-to-day payments change very little. I don’t have confirmed evidence that SOL price would react to this specific news; I’m not attributing causality.

The main risk

A stablecoin carries the risk of the issuer and reserves, and SOL carries market risk. “No issuance fee” doesn’t mean the cost of all transactions is zero, and it doesn’t eliminate SOL price risk. The name OUSD appears across different projects: verify the contract and the source.

What fact would convince you that this launch has become real demand for the network: an increase in the number of payment transactions, or regular redemptions and repeat use of OUSD?
