The Securities and Exchange Commission has proposed a crypto asset custody framework for investment advisers and regulated funds. The proposal would create a path for compliance with custody rules under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940.
According to NS3.AI, the framework would also update other custody provisions. The statement said the required use of permitted custodians can create challenges because custody services for new crypto assets may take months to become available.
