Firms such as CertiK and PeckShield estimate that September has officially consolidated as the most destructive month of the year in terms of cybersecurity and cybercrime in the crypto ecosystem, accumulating losses exceeding US$768 million. This drastic upturn, which represents a massive increase compared to previous months, was mainly due to the #hackeo of the exchange #Bitget and to that of Liquid Network.

Dozens of smaller incidents in bridges, smart contracts, and wallet vulnerabilities were added to these events, raising the 2026 annual total to more than US$2.680 billion in total losses. This scenario once again lights up alarms across the industry about the urgency of improving custody standards, code audits, and security in third-party services.
